| A native of Roxbury,
Massachusetts, I became interested in art at the
age of six. One day I saw my brother sketching and
became fascinated. Thereafter, I began sketching
as well and surprisingly discovered God had given
me a natural ability in being artistic.
The medium I mostly work in is
oils because I find that it is very forgiving,
by that I mean I can change it if I wish. I am
a Portrait Artist. However, my forte is painting
Jazz Musicians. Jazz was always played in my house
growing up. My Uncle Benny was a well known saxophone
player in Paris. Sometimes I'm asked how do I
choose my subjects? What I look for are what they
are saying to me.There is a certain gut feeling
I get that says "YES" that's it.
Sometimes I listen to the
artist while painting because I can get the impression
of what they are playing on canvas and the brush
is my instrument. When I put my brush on the canvas
I want to make one feel life. Commission Work:
