Artist’s Statement
Since I can remember, I have always
drawn and painted; but it was years before I met
any artists who actually looked like me. When
I decided to become an artist, I committed myself
to fully exploring the African Diaspora experience
in all of its wide and various incarnations.
I feel privileged to be
a part of the continuing legacy of work created
by such talented giants as Charles White, John
Biggers, Elizabeth Catlett, Alan Crite and many
others. I am inspired by all who came before me,
challenged and encouraged by my peers.
